My name is, or rather formely was, Walter. I was stationned upon the 13th “Melancoly” Hill, as Research Assistant, attached to Doctor Otop. I was almost entirely deprived of any field’s experience, if not worse, due to not having really cared to study when I was still sitting on the benches of the General Medical School, but my father, in his kindness, got me this job out of desesperation for a lazy and decadent lifestyle addicted son, always falling to deprevation by the fault of his less fortunate and important fellows.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

So, one morning, I took the first convoy for the advanced outpost, among soldiers with sinister and severe faces, to be disembarked at the 13th Reasearch Lab without any matter. After being shortly introduced to the rest of the team and briefed by Dr. Otop herself, I was put at work on some numerous and boring paperworks to classify and send. Feeling very little concerned by the task, I spent the first few days chatting and befriending the barracks guards instead of focusing my brain on my technical assignment. Firstly appearing as unsufferable and bastardly beings, the soldiers became friendly fellows once we discovered our shared interest for drinking nights, sharing with them some moonshine made upon my “free” time, by using the lab’s chemical equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

N\u2019ayant que peu d\u2019attrait pour la chose, je passais les premiers jours \u00e0 sympathiser avec les gardes de la caserne et \u00e0 me soustraire le plus possible \u00e0 mes obligations. On that he took upon himself to drink a new shot at the memory of his lost comrade. Seeing that he nearly emptied the bottle, I stood up in order to go get a new one at the lab. Near my workstation, I noticed a sealed box containing a few fresh and healthy looking pieces of fruit. While the exterior seemed hard and green, the interior looked pinky and sweety. Not much resisting my thirst for such a treat on this bloody hot night of the local Nuclear Summer, I decided to steal a piece, thinking that my coworker won’t notice one missing out of the 20 or so he planned for his next breakfast.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

After that event somehow very mundane, the following days brought quite an impossible chain reaction of bad luck for me, pushing me into atrocous despair and ruin… First, I was summoned to a disciplinary trial by the higher-ups for “illegal use of the scientific equipment”. I was also judged for “disclosing senstitive informations” and expelled from the team. I could have gone unnoticed for quite some more time, but one of my coworker got punished for losing a rare specimen of impersonated Xenophyto lifeform (or whatever techno-babble I would only understand way too late) and made me pay for it by revealing my secrets, pushing the blame onto me. Stuck and broken as never I was in my entire life, exiled into the barren lands without further notice, even my drinking companions didn’t move a single toe in help, fearing for their own safety.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s cet \u00e9v\u00e9nement quelque peu anodin, les jours suivants furent une r\u00e9action en cha\u00eene d\u2019un terrible crescendo vers mon malheur. J\u2019aurais pu passer entre les mailles du filet si un de mes coll\u00e8gues, moins chanceux dans la vie que moi (ou l\u2019\u00e9tait-il vraiment?) d\u00e9non\u00e7a mes combines apr\u00e8s qu\u2019il fut expuls\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9quipe pour avoir perdu un pr\u00e9cieux sp\u00e9cimen de vie Xenophyto supplant\u00e9e, ou autre charabia dont je ne compris le sens que plus tard, m\u2019accusant de ses maux. Jet\u00e9 \u00e0 bas comme jamais, et d\u00e9sormais exil\u00e9 de la base, m\u00eame mes anciens \u2018\u2019compagnons\u2019\u2019 ne boug\u00e8rent, de peur de s\u2019attirer eux aussi les foudres de la direction.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the fields of Verdaine, upon the cursed deamed sunlight, my skin began to itch terribly, squamous eruptions appearing onto my legs and arms, and squishy traces of pox infections bursting out of my chest and head. Not figuring out really what was happening to me, I decided to put that onto the stress and poor hygiene I was under since my exile of the last civilized outpost possibly found at miles away, cursing the fate for not helping me into finding a shelter yet. A couple nights later my teeth and hair fell, and my back began arching in some totally inhuman angles, in an utmost horrible pain, like some nightmarish and angered puppeteer was playing with his most hated toy. My nails turned into long sharped spears and my joints grew outside of my flesh. But the worst into all of this was the hungryness. And the thirst.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

That thirst that rendered me intoxicated, intoxicated for eating, biting, aspiring. Aspiring to taste water, sugar, aspiring to drink from the ultimate spring of all roots. Crying all my tears, blinded by despair and an unexplicable thirst, I’ve seen from my now hideous and bulging redish body a piece of me that looked delicious… once that was a leg, but now it looked more like a delicious, juicy sweet and fresh piece of food, reminding me of a certain stolen fruit eaten by a hot summer night. Quickly and hastily, I devored that ridiculous appendice, my own flesh, the burning taste of it through my mouth making me close my dozen of eyes and crying in a blissful sensation of peace. But furious seemed to have been the forgotten godly power I angered, because the next morning I woke up punished for having felt such joy in my sentence of misfortune, what was left of my mouth now muted into numerous new eyes to spread even more tears into the void, endlessly screaming at my own increasing madness. And all the gods knew how much I craved to be able to scream in horror, by every damn second now and forever.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cette soif qui me rendait ivre, ivre de go\u00fbter, de mordre, d\u2019aspirer. J\u2019avais envie de sucre, d\u2019eau, de m\u2019abreuver \u00e0 la source de tout. Pleurant toutes les larmes de mon corps, aveugl\u00e9 par le d\u00e9sespoir et cette soif insatiable, je vis de mon corps, devenu rouge et boursoufl\u00e9, hideusement d\u00e9form\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019exc\u00e8s, un morceau \u00e0 l\u2019apparence d\u00e9licieuse\u2026 cette sorte d\u2019excroissance qui fut un jour une jambe, avait l\u2019apparence ros\u00e9e, sucr\u00e9e et fra\u00eeche tel un fruit d\u2019\u00e9t\u00e9, me rappelant cette douce sensation de d\u00e9lice autour d\u2019un en-cas chapard\u00e9. Goul\u00fbment et promptement je m\u2019enfilais cette appendice que je jugeais ridicule, glissant au fond de ma gorge, pris d\u2019une extase sans pareil. Je pus ainsi apaiser la douleur un instant, mes dizaines d\u2019yeux clos de satisfaction. Mais comme une punition divine, un sombre dieu oubli\u00e9 ou je ne sais quel autre fatalit\u00e9, d\u00e9cida que s\u2019en \u00e9tait trop, point de bonheur mis\u00e9ricordieux pour une pareille abomination. Je me r\u00e9veillais, le lendemain de mon dernier repas, sans plus de bouche pour crier, seulement mut\u00e9e en plus d\u2019yeux perdus dans le n\u00e9ant. Since then I changed once again… I don’t know if one could call me human anymore, or just one more of those abominations roaming these cursed lands. Soon I will be no more, or will it be just my mind which would have vanished, because the thirst keeps me always awake, in a neverending state of impossible fury, my flesh becoming my own prison. So I write this letter, at least I try, before I end up hunted and killed like the raging beast I am. What a salvation it would be!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The goal was to convert out of nowhere a mini for someone else, just following a short list of keywords given by them. I ended up with “vegetable” and “insectoid”… and so I did this!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
