While this blog started already 3 months ago, I haven’t yet presented myself properly. So, here we go: “Lady Numiria”, a.k.a Andrea La Rosa in real life, wargamer and music composer<\/a> as a living. And even if I studied sciences in college, it’s due to the hobby that I’m where I am nowadays, working in such a field.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bien que ce blog ait commenc\u00e9 depuis 3 mois, je n’ai pas encore pris le temps de faire une pr\u00e9sentation en bonne et d\u00fb forme. Ainsi donc commen\u00e7ons: “Lady Numiria”, aka Andrea La Rosa dans la vraie vie du monde v\u00e9ritable, wargameuse et artiste-musicienne<\/a> dans la vie de tous les jours. Et malgr\u00e9 mon background acad\u00e9mique scientifique, c’est gr\u00e2ce et surtout \u00e0 cause du hobby que j’en suis l\u00e0 aujourd’hui…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Everything started back in 2003, when Games Workshop tried to reach new audiences with its first attempt at Conquest\/Imperium\/Stormbringer style of collections. Like many folks from my days, Lord of the Rings minis (through magazines) were my first step into Warhammer, to the point that I even visited my local Games Workshop store to buy more stuff down the line.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tout a commenc\u00e9 en l’an de gr\u00e2ce 2003, avec les premiers pas de Games Workshop dans l’\u00e9dition grand public en librairie, via le mod\u00e8le des “collections papeterie”. Comme beaucoup de gens de ma g\u00e9n\u00e9ration, \u00e7a a donc \u00e9t\u00e9 par la “petite” porte du Seigneur des Anneaux, ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne culturel hautement populaire \u00e0 l’\u00e9poque que j’ai eu mes premi\u00e8res figurines Warhammer, et aussi la raison de ma premi\u00e8re visite dans un GW local.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

After that, and by remembering all the “Fighting Fantasy” books I’ve read in elementary school (funfact: I only learned way later that the two subjects were tied somehow), I digged deeper into Warhammer, starting a Tomb Kings army, then Ultramarines, and Skavens, etc. A neverending chain of new projects!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Quelques temps apr\u00e8s, et me rappelant mes nombreuses lectures de “Livres dont vous \u00eates le h\u00e9ros” en \u00e9cole primaire, j’ai plong\u00e9 corps et \u00e2me dans le monde de Warhammer \u00e0 proprement parler, avec une arm\u00e9e de Roi des Tombes, puis par des Ultramarines, puis des Skavens, etc etc. L’engrenage sans fin!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Even from the start I was always passioned by custom minis and homemade stories for my characters, inspired by White Dwarf magazines scratch-build and conversion articles, or stuff found on the early web (like Sire Lambert’ Space Marines army and their proto-Land Speeders Storm). That way, I realized my first “kitbash”: a Space Marines Captain for my Ultramarines force, still intact, still there, never repainted or repaired, sitting on my mini shelf since 2004!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

D\u00e8s le d\u00e9but j’ai toujours voulu explorer le lore perso et les cr\u00e9ations customs, inspir\u00e9e notamment par les articles de scratch-building et de conversion dans les magazines White Dwarf, ou les articles que l’on trouvaient sur le net encore \u00e9mergeant, comme celui sur les Land Speeders Storm des Chevaliers de la Lumi\u00e8re du regrett\u00e9 Sire Lambert. Ainsi mon tout premier “kitbash”, comme on dit de nos jours, \u00e9tait pour mon Capitaine Space Marines, qui tr\u00f4ne toujours fi\u00e8rement dans mon \u00e9tag\u00e8re \u00e0 fig, jamais retouch\u00e9 depuis sa cr\u00e9ation en 2004.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

After a break of a few years due to High School and College, I went back into miniatures by 2016, but this time by exploring a new side of it for me: what lies outside Games Workshop. And what a discovery! Between impressive smaller games and incredible mini ranges, it was also the opportunity to learn new painting methods, along with my very first investment and interest into conventions, tournaments and by being an active member of a wargaming community, after spending so much time as just a passive “consumer”.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s une pause de quelques ann\u00e9es entre mes ann\u00e9es lyc\u00e9es et universitaires, je m’y suis remise vers 2016, mais cette fois en explorant la face cach\u00e9e du hobby: ce qu’il y a en dehors de Games Workshop. Grand bien m’en a pris car j’ai eu l’impression de tout red\u00e9couvrir, ainsi que les progr\u00e8s faits entre-temps en termes de techniques de peinture, de game design et de mod\u00e9lisme. j’y ai aussi d\u00e9couvert les conventions, tournois et l’investissement direct aupr\u00e8s d’une communaut\u00e9, au lieu de la simple “consommation” passive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In short, I wanted to put out that blog so my creations are not only for my own leisure and everyone can enjoy the numerous stuff I write and put out usually for my minis, also trying to inspire people to play an active part in their local community, so one day they too can inspire a new generation of miniatures painters and players!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bref, c’est avec tout cela en t\u00eate que j’ai voulu vous offrir ce blog, afin que mes cr\u00e9ations et les dizaines de drafts que je pond r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement pour mon hobby ne soient pas que pour moi, et encouragent les autres \u00e0 devenir \u00e9galement une part active de leur communaut\u00e9, afin qu’un jour eux aussi deviennent moteur d’inspiration pour une nouvelle g\u00e9n\u00e9ration de hobbyistes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
