On the lost world of \u00e6ternopia, humanity reigns not as master, but as useless servants without a good Lord from which to follow the guidance. Men are left to themselves, weak, desesperate, and fighting against nature or other (sentient or not) creatures from these lands, but still unable to really unite and help each-other properly, thus not owning their own fate.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sur le monde perdu d\u2019\u00e6ternopia, l\u2019humanit\u00e9 r\u00e8gne non pas en ma\u00eetre, mais en futile serviteur sans seigneur \u00e0 qui ob\u00e9ir. Les hommes y sont livr\u00e9s \u00e0 eux-m\u00eames, d\u00e9sabus\u00e9s et luttant tous les jours contre les \u00e9l\u00e9ments et les cr\u00e9atures (sentientes ou non) de ce monde, mais incapable de s\u2019unir, de s\u2019entraider et par l\u00e0 m\u00eame de ma\u00eetriser leur pauvre destin.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

It is true otherwise that some people, cities and kingdoms do share some sort of mutual agreements to rule everyday’s life, and true that huge empires can also exist in order to make up for that lack of authority. But either be it for cupidity, selfishness, nihilism or total despair, even these mere islands of order are often short-lived or pushed back into oblivion by violent rivals.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Certes, les diff\u00e9rentes peuplades, cit\u00e9s et royaumes ont certains accords qui r\u00e9gulent les \u00e9changes et la vie sur la plan\u00e8te, et d\u2019autres des empires immenses \u00e0 m\u00eame de pour-voyer \u00e0 un semblant d\u2019autorit\u00e9. Mais que ce soit par cupidit\u00e9, \u00e9go\u00efsme, nihilisme ou abandon au d\u00e9sespoir total, m\u00eame ces semblants d\u2019ordre sont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement de courtes dur\u00e9es ou vite ramener dans l’oubli par de cruels rivaux.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

In fact, what makes humanity what it is is not to be one but a whole spectrum of diversity: Baron Khallus subjects can count on Skrats and Mutants in their ranks, but also Grorks travellers, often here to trade goods and a safe passage. In some reclused regions one can find small communities of Gnoblinz refugees, even if other places like the Convent of Blessed Saa-Bins exists for the sake of making this truth a hopeless one.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ce qui structure l\u2019Humanit\u00e9, ce n\u2019est pas tant d\u2019\u00eatre une mais multiple, et surtout cosmopolite\u00a0: Parmi les sujets du Baron Khallus on trouve ainsi nombre de Skrats et de mutants, mais aussi des marchands et navigants Grorks de passage. M\u00eame les r\u00e9gions f\u00e9odales recul\u00e9es disposent souvent de leur petite communaut\u00e9 locale de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s Gnoblinz, bien que des exemples comme celui des Promises Saa-Bins existent aussi pour rendre cela une vaine l\u00e9gende.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

So while humanity survives through technological and cultural exchanges, the constantly impassable and giant equatorial tempest makes it harder. But further more, if humanity is that numerous on this planet, it’s mostly for one single and simple fact: that she is the sole carrier of the terrible and mysterious curse of the Wyrd<\/strong>…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ainsi les \u00e9changes forment l\u2019humanit\u00e9, que ce soit technologiquement ou culturellement, bien que l\u2019imperm\u00e9abilit\u00e9 de la temp\u00eate \u00e9quatoriale emp\u00eache toute liaison lointaine, scellant herm\u00e9tiquement les deux zones. Mais si l\u2019humanit\u00e9 est si nombreuse en ce monde, c\u2019est surtout car elle a une pr\u00e9disposition unique qui la place au dessus des autres\u00a0: elle est porteuse du myst\u00e9rieux fl\u00e9au du Wyrd<\/strong>…<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What exactly is this Wyrd? Well… that’s something you will have to wait a little bit before I can tell you more about it. Anyway, I would like to thank the talented Sceptik<\/a> (Gabriel Pissondes<\/em>) for his wonderful work on depicting \u00e6ternopia’s inhabitants. A fructful and beautiful collaboration that I cannot wait to show you further more stuff from in the near future, so be prepared for that in the following weeks.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Quel est donc ce Wyrd? Et bien il vous faudra attendre un peu, car avant d’en savoir plus l\u00e0 dessus nous iront faire un tour du c\u00f4t\u00e9 des autres habitants de ce monde. J’aimerais d’ailleurs remercier le talentueux Sceptik<\/a> (Gabriel Pissondes<\/em>) pour ses sublimes artworks d\u00e9peignant les habitants d’\u00e6ternopia.
